No!  This is karaoke, not American Idol, and that means that the performance is key.  A so-so singer with great song selection, face-melting air guitar, swingin' dance moves, or good use of props will almost always score higher than a singer who hits all the notes but just stares at the monitor the whole time.  Plus, under our scoring system, everyone in the bar gets to vote, which means that boosting your score is as easy as bringing your friends out on league night!

 

Even the most seasoned karaoke performer can sometimes get a little stage fright.  But that's why we have liquid encouragement! The NKL negotiates drink specials for league members with each of our host establishments to make sure your voice is always well-hydrated. 

 

Sure!  If you want to stay with your friends, just choose one person to be the group leader, and register under the "Create New Group/Team" link.  Within 24 hours, your group will have it's own registration link so that you and your buds can all stay togther.  You can have up to eight people in your group, with at least 2 men and 2 women. And if your group is smaller than that, we'll combine youwith other groups and individual players until you do have a full team.

 

That's no problem either!  Sign up as an individual and we will make sure you are placed on a team with plenty of people who share your love of karaoke glory.  The first week of every season is "Get To Know Your Team" week, so you won't feel like an individual for long.  We'll even have a bar tab that first week to help get the socializing under way.

 

5.  What if I have to miss a few weeks of the season?
No biggie. Each performer is only required to sing twice in a season, though most will usually choose to sing much more. As long as you let your team captain know that you'll be missing on a given week, your team can keep rocking even in your absence.

6.  What do I get if my team wins the season?
What, you mean other than the incomparable title of Karaoke Champion?  You'll get a picture on our website, a big, shiny team trophy, and a big, shiny team bar tab.
